The Fender American Vintage '59 Stratocaster has gained a new colour: Sherwood Green Metallic. This electric guitar is ideal for guitarists who can't afford an original '59 Strat, as prices can go up to tens of thousands of pounds. Fender accurately copied this guitar from headstock to strap button, making sure they used the right types of wood and reproductions of the original hardware. The result is a guitar that doesn't just look authentic, it also plays and sounds like a genuine old Fender would have as it came new from the factory.

American Vintage '59 Stratocaster: a spitting image

The '59 Stratocaster represents the transition from the fifties to the sixties. Characteristic 1959 features include the slimmer D-profile maple neck with a thick rosewood fretboard and Clay Dot position markers. The single-layer white pickguard has been replaced by a three-layer mint-green version that was attached with two extra screws (10 in total) to prevent warping. Complying with original specs, the body of the American Vintage '59 Stratocaster is made of alder and has Fender's Flash Coat nitrocellulose lacquer finish for a marvellously deep shine. Additionally, the steel bridge saddles have period-correct Fender Pat. Pend. stamps. Even the housing of the tuners sports the distinctive Fender single line.

American Vintage series: more accurate than ever before

The American Vintage series comprises several iconic Fender models from the '50s, '60s and '70s that are vintage-accurate down to the smallest details. To achieve this vintage accuracy, the specs and details of countless original old Fenders have been carefully studied and examined. Fender even brushed off the tools of the period to make the result as authentic as possible. All of the American Vintage series guitars come with a vintage-style case with replica case candy that includes a guitar strap, an instrument cable, a polishing cloth, instruction booklets and pamphlets of the period.
