1961 also marks the year when the Strat was upgraded with the refined look of a 3-ply pickguard to emphasize the stylish contouring and nitrocellulose finish of the solid alder body. Combining handsome looks with bang-on sound, Fender have outfitted the guitar with a set of Pure Vintage '61 Stratocaster pickups, which feature an authentic coil design so you can dial in a wide range of instantly-recognisable Strat-sounds.
Compulsive Playability
Just like the looks and sound, the playability of the 1961 Stratocaster is fully up to snuff. The 1961 C-profile neck combines with a slab rosewood fretboard, a 7.25" fretboard radius and 21 vintage tall frets for an immediately snug feel, setting you up with an axe that's perfect for both lead guitar and rhythm work. Thanks to the Pure Vintage synchronised tremolo bridge, you can even sprinkle in subtle vibratos at will.
