General

Fender have added some solid upgrades to the already perfect base provided by this Signature Jim Root (from Slipknot) Jazzmaster. Besides the brilliantly sullen finish, this offset is mounted with new EMG Daemonum pickups. While they might look passive, you're actually dealing with two fully-grown and fully-active double-wound open-coils. The output point for these humbuckers is Retro Active and their choice follows expansive experimentation by Jim Root himself. The full, dare we say, demonic sound can be heard all over the album, 'We Are Not Your Kind'.

The Jim Root Jazzmaster: Fearless Riffs and Licks

Before the active humbuckers were even mounted, this Jazzmaster had all the essentials needed for heavy metal work. That said, this guitar would not sound out of place in any other genre. The solid foundation is formed by the warm-sounding mahogany body and a C-profile neck bound to the bevelled pocket by a 12-inch piece of dark ebony. The stable hardtail, string-through-body bridge and no-fuss tone controls ensure fearless playability, perfect for the fan-favourite riffs and licks from the Slipknot classic, 'Stone Sour'.
