General

One of the headliners of the Modern Collection, the Gibson SG Modern takes iconic Gibson sound and gracefully smashes it together with modern playability. The near-wafer-thin mahogany body has been garnished with a AA-figured maple top, so each unique slice makes a genuinely unique guitar, before it's all sealed up in a tasty nitrocellulose lacquer. This new-school SG comes complete with a hardshell case and accessory kit.

The Modern Collection SG Modern: Addictive Playing Comfort

The SG has always carried a solid reputation for its fast-feeling neck, and Gibson have pushed that feeling even further by giving the dark-ebony fretboard of the SG Modern a compound radius that comfortably flattens as you move closer to the body. Coupled with the asymmetrical Slim Taper neck profile, grabbing chords and notes feels like buttering hot and fresh bread - or thereabouts - while the classic double-cut body eases access to every last one of the 24 medium jumbo frets.

Wide-Ranging Gibson Sound

The amplified sound of the SG Modern has been placed in the capable hands of a pair of BurstBucker Pro pickups. These Alnico-V-based passive humbuckers deliver forceful output and potent sound. And, since this model is a member of the Modern Collection, it comes fitted with two, coil-tapping push/pull volume pots, so besides the vintage and familiar, you can even pull brilliantly raw, P90-style tone out of this SG. This American-made guitar manages to crash the classic head-on into the contemporary and make it sound flawless.
