Bearing many of the same authentic feature of the original 1958 Explorer, the neck of the Gibson Original Designer has been glued into the mahogany body, elevating resonance and enhancing sustain, while, ensure that the legendary, irksome body shape is given all the room it needs to shine, it's been coated in a warm and transparent nitrocellulose high-gloss lacquer. Topped with two Burstbuckers, this reincarnation of the Explorer delivers authentic tone backed up gain that has that unmistakable PAF-style flavour. Rein it all in with the provided pair of volume pots and single tone pot, and mix or flip between the 3-style bridge pickup and 2-style neck pickup using the three-way switch.
The Explorer: Authentic Comfort and Playability
It's not just the signature body shape that reflects the original fifties model, but the reassuring feel of the Slim Taper neck profile, rosewood fretboard, 12-inch radius, and set of 22 medium-jumbo frets, setting up this guitar with an authentic, and unrivalled comfort and playability. This has been firmly backed up by the stable intonation of a Tune-O-Matic bridge and Stop Bar tailpiece, and the solid tuning of a set of Grover Rotomatic machine heads and a Graph Tech nut. As uncompromising as it was over seventy years ago, the Gibson Original Designer Explorer comes with a hardshell case and Gibson Accessory Kit.
