General

Are you looking for a no-compromise metal guitar without unnecessary frills? Then this Jackson guitar in Trans Red Burst might be a great candidate! It's full name is the Jackson X-series SLATTXMG 3-6 TRB, which is quite a mouthful, but it does tell you all you need to know about the instrument. The X-series is the American brand's mid-range line of guitars, and the SLAT in the name indicates that it has a Soloist-type body with an arched top - which means it resembles a more aerodynamic version of a Stratocaster. MG indicates that the pickup configuration consists of a duo of EMG 81/85 humbuckers. Finally, the 3-6 moniker tells you that there are 6 machine heads in total on the headstock, 3 on each side.

Metal Mania

All the aforementioned features combine to form a true beast of a guitar, that will make many metal guitarists' mouths water. As such, the Jackson SLATTXMG Q 3-6 in Trans Red Burst is great for any genre, as long as it's heavy. With a fixed bridge, it's ideal for tight riffs and alternative tunings, as this allows for much greater tuning stability than a Floyd Rose would, so you can alternate between different tunings with the greatest of ease - try that with a Floyd! What's more, the bridge's string-through construction also gives the SLATTXMG 3-6 more resonance and sustain.

Compound radius fretboard and EMG pickups

The compound-radius fretboard features no fewer than 24 jumbo frets. As the compound radius gradually changes from 12 to 16 inches, it's just as easy to play tight riffs near the string nut, as it is to play lightning-quick leads higher up on the neck. As far as its sound goes, the basswood body and the neck-through-body maple neck work together to provide a well-balanced core sound. Of course, the pickups also needed to keep up with the high-performance specs on the body. That's why Jackson chose to go with the classic metal configuration of an EMG81 at the bridge and an EMG85 at the neck. Finally, we should mention that the (Q) in SLATTXMG (Q) 3-6 indicates that this guitar has a gorgeous quilted maple top!

Jackson X-Series SLATTXMG (Q) 3-6

Wrote the following about Jackson X-Series SLATTXMG (Q) 3-6

NAMM 2016: Jackson Spoils Shredders and Metal Heads

Thursday 21 January 2016

During the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, it's not uncommon for guitar manufacturers to introduce new models and finishes. This year, Jackson has released an entire new series under the name Monarkh. The Monarkh guitars were inspired by the famous Les Paul, but offer true shredders and metal heads even more options. Tradition meets modern standards!
