General

Squier’s Classic Vibe 70s Stratocaster is an attractively-priced electric guitar with a classic look. It has a vintage-styled, lacquered neck, a larger headstock and nickel-plated hardware. The neck has a C profile and a rounded 9.5-inch fretboard radius that make it comfortable to play. You can also count on a warm sound when amplified thanks to the specially-designed Alnico single-coil pickups it’s equipped with. The volume control, two tone potentiometers and a 5-way pickup switch mean that this Strat is capable of producing the same wide variety of sounds you get from a model made by its parent company Fender.

Received the guitar back in December so i’ve had a good few months with it and safe to say it’s been extremely disappointing.

To start off the set up is horrendous/non-existent to the point where the wood on fret board was bone dry, horrendous fret buzz on the entire g string and in random spots all over the fret board. Truss rod and action were all over the place and a ridiculous amount of intonation issues. If you are a beginner or don’t know how to properly set up a guitar a recommended staying clear. This was baffling for a number of reasons one of them being the almost perfect out of the box set up on my affinity jazzmaster which costs over a £100 less.

Moving on to the pick ups, they’re good for clean work and that’s it don’t even think about rolling the gain up. Don’t get me wrong they’re great pick ups for anything with a little distortion, overdrive or just an over all clean sound but thats really it. Any kind of serious over drive or anything of the sort sounds unbearable ESPECIALLY when running through an interface so if you’re looking to gig or record with this i suggest swapping them out.

On the positive side this guitar looks amazing, the finish and ageing on the wood is incredible and all the visible hardware perfectly suits the vibe and them of the guitar.
