General
Are you looking for an affordable semi-hollow TE-style model with an HS configuration? Bax Music offers a range of options to choose from. Besides the renowned American original, there are various great alternatives available. Take the Vintage Reissued V72 in Flamed Tobacco Burst, for instance, which features the characteristic semi-hollow TE-style body, a twangy single-coil pickup near the bridge and a Wilkinson humbucker at the neck. Wilkinson's hardware is known for its excellent quality, and you won't find any fault with this guitar's wood types or finish either. Once again, Vintage delivers outstanding value for your money.
Construction and sound of the V72FTB
Thanks to an alder body with two acoustic chambers - one of which has an f-shaped sound hole - the V72FTB offers plenty of resonance, which is only enhanced by the string-through-body construction of the bridge. With its steel ash tray and three saddles, the latter brings you that elusive TE-style mojo. As the saddles are compensated, intonation is a piece of cake. The pleasant tone of the guitar's alder body is nicely complemented by the rosewood fretboard. Do you like a bit of twang? In that case, you'll certainly appreciate the Wilkinson Alnico V bridge pickup. The Wilkinson mini humbucker in the neck position, on the other hand, produces a tight, powerful sound, ensuring optimal balance between twang, warmth and power.
The Vintage brand
Vintage's history can be roughly divided into two periods. In the early days, the company made cheap knock-offs that lived up to all the negative stereotypes about low-budget instruments. That changed drastically, however, when Trevor Wilkinson, famed for his affordable yet high-quality guitar parts, attached his name to the Vintage brand. Not only the hardware, but the wood selection and construction methods were vastly improved. Since then, Vintage has made a name for itself by offering excellent value for money, more than holding its own among the ferocious competition in this price range.
