This natural coloured Yamaha NTX700 is an electro-acoustic classical guitar with many qualities of a western guitar. The smaller neck and thinner body are equipped with nylon strings giving you the easy playability of a steel-string guitar with the tone of a classical/Spanish guitar. Additionally, the neck is attached to the body at the 14th fret which, combined with the cutaway, makes it easier to reach the 22nd fret. The NTX700 has a full sound and strong projection, and is suited for a variety of styles such as latin, jazz, rock and pop. What's more, this attractive guitar is equipped with ART pickups and a System61 preamplifier which amplifies the nylon strings with precision and detail.

The improved wood of the NTX-700

The most important factor in an acoustic guitar's sound is the top, which is why the NTX-700 has such a full, powerful sound. Spruce was used to fashion the solid top, with adds additional balance and clarity to this instrument's tone. Klinkt akoestisch best goed, voor een plattere klassieke gitaar met cutaway. Elektrisch versterkt valt hij tegen. Teveel midden, geen warm geluid. Ondanks de diverse regelmogelijkheden op de ingebouwde voorversterker slaag ik er niet in om een natuurgetrouw geluid uit mijn Boss Katana te krijgen. De ingebouwde tuner werkt best goed. De gitaar als B-Stock besteld met best veel korting (uitlopend model...). Hij kwam in een grote Bax-doos. Normaal zit daar dan weer een kartonnen doos in zit met de gitaar, maar dat was blijkbaar te lastig. De gitaar was in plastic bubble wrap gewikkeld, en de doos was opgevuld met van die met lucht gevulde plastic zakjes. Erg onverantwoord als je het mij vraagt, Bax-onwaardig. Geen rubber plug tegen rondzingen, wel een Casio PXS1000 handleiding in de doos!? De kop was licht beschadigd, maar ik weet niet of dat door het transport kwam. Ik houd de gitaar, ik speel hem onversterkt en de smallere hals is voor mij fijner dan die van een echte klassieke gitaar.

Fijne gitaar. Klinkt onversterkt een beetje vlak en zacht. Komt over een versterker het best tot zijn recht. Mooie klank en goede balans tussen hoge en lage tonen. Wordt geleverd met rubberen plug (tegen rondzingen). Handig want het klankgat is ovaal en zelf een plug vinden die goed past kan volgens mij nog best lastig zijn. De knoppen van de stemmechanieken zijn bruin/oranje van kleur. Kijk even goed naar de foto. Moest even wennen maar ik vind het nu wel best.
