The CD-60SCE-12 is a very affordable 12-string guitar from Fender's Classic Design series. It features a solid top and a Fishman CD Preamp. For beginners, or advanced guitarists on a budget, this electro-acoustic guitar steel-string with cutaway is excellent value for money.

Classic Design Dreadnought SCE: amplification and playing comfort

The warm acoustic sound of the CD-60SCE-12 is amplified with great articulation by means of a piëzo pickup under the bridge saddle and a CD preamp by the renowned brand Fishman. Deze gitaar speelt na een nieuw setje snaren en een beetje geklungel aan de trussrod perfect. De actie kan heel laag waardoor deze gitaar heel licht speelt. De ingebouwde preamp is niet veel over te zeggen, ook is de ingebouwde tuner handig. Ik heb deze gitaar ook op podium gebruikt en dan komt één klein probleempje omhoog, neckdive. Dit was wel te verwachten met een 12 string. Al met al echt heel veel waard voor je geld.

Tja. Alle waar is naar zijn geld, maar van Fender had ik toch echt heel veel meer verwacht, hoe goedkoop deze gitaar ook moge zijn. Naïef misschien. Crafted in Indonesia is door het klankgat te lezen op de bodemplaat. Nou, dat blijkt echt wel anders te zijn dan made in USA of made in Mexico.

Het grote probleem bij het instrument dat thuis werd afgeleverd is de hals. Die was hol en hoe lang ik ook met de bijgeleverde trussrod in de weer ben geweest, ik kreeg de gitaar niet zo afgesteld dat de dubbele g-snaar ook maar bij benadering zuiver te krijgen was. Ongetwijfeld zal de kwaliteit van de kam hier nog een woordje meespreken.
Jammer, want de klank van deze gitaar is rijk en resonant en het ingebouwde Fishman-pickupsysteem werkt en klinkt uitstekend.
Het kan natuurlijk altijd een dom gevalletje van pech zijn geweest. Het instrument was bij alle filialen de allerlaatste die snel verkrijgbaar was en misschien waren de andere beter, maar in alle eerlijkheid vind ik dat deze gitaar nooit zo de deur uit had mogen gaan.

Potentiële kopers zou ik vooral op het hart willen drukken zich niet te laten verleiden door de merknaam. Achteraf had ik veel beter de twee keer zo dure Epiphone die ik bij een concurrerende firma heb bespeeld kunnen aanschaffen. 'Blind' deze Fender laten bezorgen, was misschien niet zo'n goed idee. Kennelijk heb ik bij eerdere aanschaffen geluk gehad.
