Tim Armstrong is singer, guitarist and founder of the legendary punk-rock band Rancid. He has several Fender signature guitars and this is the Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat, which is based on his tried-and-trusted acoustic Fender from the 1960s. Fender have added a Fishman Isys III preamp to this classic design and the neck features unmistakable Hellcat and double skull position markers. The guitar comes with Tim's signature on the headstock.
This acoustic steel-string has a concert-shaped body made of mahogany with a solid top and laminated back and sides. The neck is made of maple and has a 20-frets rosewood fretboard. When combined, mahogany and maple produce dark, warm tones. It's pretty remarkable to find a guitar with a body made of a single piece of mahogany in this price class, and the solid top enhances more resonance, a fuller sound, more volume, and excellent projection.
This Fender Tim Armstrong Hellcat is equipped with a Fishman Isys III amplification system with high-end piëzo pickups and a preamp with active tone controls. It also gives you the capability to tweak the sound to perfection using the 30band equalizer. Tuning this guitar is a joy in itself thanks to the built-in tuner with clear display. Whether you amplify it or not, this Tim Armstrong signature delivers!
