The Guild D-240E Natural is a dreadnought model from the American brand's Westerly Collection. This electro-acoustic guitar is fitted with an AP-1 preamp that sends a marvellous guitar sound to your amplifier or mixer that is shaped by a solid Sitka spruce top; a premium type of wood known to produce sparkling highs and deep lows. Blessed with a beautiful white binding around the body, the guitar has maintained its natural looks and brims with authentic character.

The Guild D-240E Natural Westerly: More Volume

Guitarists with an interest in the instrument-building craft will be glad to learn that the Guild D-240E Westerly Natural has been given an arched back. This special feature is what earned Guild its great reputation as a guitar building company back in the 1950s and guarantees enhanced sound projection with more volume, longer sustain and rich, exuberant tone. For better defined lows and highs, Guild have opted for mahogany back and sides, resulting in an elegant giant of a guitar.

Guild Westerly Collection

Guild have been building high-quality instruments since 1953, and their acoustic guitars hark back to earlier, vintage models. Each of the steel-string guitars in their Westerly series feature solid woods and are equipped with a number of tasteful, luxurious details. What's more, the headstock is adorned with a traditional pearloid Guild emblem inlay and all of the guitars feature a faux-tortoiseshell pickguard.

Whilst it took a little longer to be delivered than the stated lead time, I'm more than happy with this guitar. The volume and depth of sounds is everything you'd expect and hope for from a dreadnought size guitar. Was well packaged so arrived in perfect condition. Have yet to try it out plugged in, so can't say yet what the pickup sounds like, though it is a very discreet set up, with volume and tone wheels just showing inside the sound hole, and the battery compartment and output on a small plate on the underside.
Nice touch is that it has strap buttons already mounted on the heel and foot of the guitar (though I forgot to order a strap!).
Strings as fitted are very nice sounding - wish it said what strings they are as I'd like to order more for the future.
I like the satin finish to the neck - this works for me.
Very slight rounding to the back (not a flaw! - it's the design) which isn't obvious in the pictures above, but possibly helps the projection of the guitars voice.
Grain of the wood is very good, as is the purfling, binding, etc. Scratch plate looks a little cheap under some light and from certain angles, but is up the job. Very simple headstock finish, not shouty or intrusive.
Would definitely recommend.
(Been playing guitar for 40 years+. Bought as back up acoustic - will probably be my main acoustic from now on.)

Superbe guitare. Pour être honnête, j'ai essayé la Guild 240E, d'autres Guild et la Martin D28 dans le même magasin. La guild, 5 fois moins chère est nettement au dessus en termes de finition et de son. La 240E est fabriquée avec grand soin tel un modèle haut de gamme. Mon fils est luthier et m'a dit que peu importe la marque et le modèle.. si le son est bon, qu'elle est facile à jouer, qu'elle est précise et puissante dans toute la gamme de sons et qu'elle correspond à ton type, de jeu alors, le coup de coeur l'emporte. Je ne suis pas déçu de cet achat.
