For seasoned guitarists who prefer the supple feel of an electric model but still want the warm sound of an acoustic, Ibanez offer up the Talman TCM50 Open Pore. Coated in Galaxy Black, this unique electro-acoustic manages to combine the playability of an electric guitar with the more voluptuous sound of an acoustic. The matte open pore finish of the wood is complemented by a matching pickguard.

The TCM50: Wood, Tone, and a Double Cutaway

The ash top gives this guitar its bright and sparkling tone while the sapele back and sides add a nicely full accent, bringing depth to the overall sound. The neck has been set in at the 16th fret and made from okoume, while a cutaway either side (unusual for an acoustic model) offers easy access to the highest notes along the purple heart fretboard. The use of these types of wood ensure a cream-filled finish to the higher frequencies, completing the acoustic foundation of the Talman.

The AP2 Magnetic and AEQ200M

Fitted with an Ibanez AP2 Magnetic and Ibanez AEQ200M preamp, this instrument has just as much presence on stage as it does on the sofa. The preamp provides a two-band EQ to tweak the high and low end in detail while the pickup faithfully registers the natural acoustic sound. In the TCM50, Ibanez have been able to offer a thoughtful, comfortable, and good looking electro-acoustic at a surprising price.
