The Yamaha L series consists of electro-acoustic guitars that have all been developed with a strict eye for detail, and offer the kind of outstanding sound that you typically only find in vintage guitars. This particular LL6 ARE model features the Sunburst Brown finish, and is a great example of excellence. With its solid Engelmann spruce top, this guitar offers a lot of dynamic reach with a lot of presence, while still remaining balanced in both sound and feel. All of the LL6 ARE guitars are equipped with an SRT Zero Impact pickup. This pickup consists of smaller piezos for each string and has no additional hardware on the guitar, so you can keep the classic acoustic look, while still having the option of hooking up to an amplifier and controlling the sound from there.

This classy classic has an original jumbo body, which features a nice, round shape and is capable of reaching loud volumes. The sound has been improved even more thanks to the internal bracing system, which works to boost the bass levels without taking away from the clarity and brightness that characterises the series. Another new design can be found in the neck, which is made of five parts mahogany/rosewood for maximum playing comfort. The neck also features a 20-fret fingerboard made of rosewood, and the gold-plated tuners (TM-29G) add a nice touch.

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement

It's quite fascinating that it's possible to process new wood to sound like the settled, mature wood found on vintage guitars. Yamaha has actually done this with the Engelmann top, specifically by applying their ARE technology. In this detailed process, the wood is processed with specific adjustments made to the temperature, air pressure and moisture in order to change its molecular makeup to match that of older wood. This means that the Yamaha LL6 ARE comes out of the box with a full, rich sound that you'd typically takes years to develop on its own.
