General
Yamaha's excellent DTX400 series is ideal for starting drummers who don't want to spend too much money on a drum kit yet. The Yamaha DTX400K is the most basic model of the series, but is very complete nonetheless. Like the DTX430K and the DTX450K, this silent digital drum kit is equipped with the DTX400 sound module. It provides you with 169 high-quality drum, cymbal and percussion sounds in various styles, 10 training programs, USB connectivity, an audio input and a headphones output.
The composition of the Yamaha DTX-400K
As always, Yamaha offer a great deal of reliability and functionality at an attractive price. The newly developed rubber pads and the large cymbals of the DTX400K are mounted on a rugged steel rack. Thanks to the anti-slip surfaces of the silent pads and cymbals, your drum sticks won't slip after you've hit them. Bass drum sounds can be activated by means of the new, silent kick drum pedal and the hi-hat is controlled by a 10-inch pad with a pedal that supports opened, closed and foot functionality.
Practice options
The Yamaha TX 400K offers 10 attractive, interactive training functions that allow you to practise. Another practical feature is the Groove Check, which indicates whether your hits are in time with the beat. The drum kit is also equipped with a Rhythm Gate function, which mutes any stroke that is out of time, and the Measure Break function, which periodically silences the metronome for a number of measures. Absolute beginners can start experimenting instantly with useful programs such as Easy Session and Fast Blast!
Connections and extensions
Connect your headphones or an optional drum monitor to the drum module and you are ready to get started. The audio input allows you to play along to songs from your MP3 player and the USB connector enables you to load other MIDI songs and to control VST drum sounds in an optional sequencer (such as Cubase) on your computer. If you like, the DTX400K can be extended or improved with a 3-zone snare and a real bass drum pedal (see the DTX450K).
- This drum kit requires a surface of approximately 1 by 1 metre.
- You can use 'regular' drum sticks to play a digital drum kit. In digital drumming, the shape of the tip of your drum sticks is of lesser importance. We do, however, recommend that you use a wooden tip, as it does not leave as many marks.

Na wat zoeken naar een voor ons betaalbare elektronische drum van een goed merk zijn we op deze terecht gekomen.
Voor zover dat ik als leek er iets van ken klinkt het geluid super!
1 ding weet ik zeker, hier zit een super enthousiaste jongen naast mij die wel eens de volgende drummer van een rockband zal worden :-)

Enige nadeel is dat de USB aansluiting een vierkante is (die vaak voor printers wordt gebruikt) en dat je dan een converter moet hebben voordat je hem aan kan sluiten op een mobiel of tablet. De app is er helaas niet voor de pc.
Verder is het een uitstekende prijs-kwaliteit-sound-degelijkheid verhouding! Een aanrader.

Ik heb de ser bij mij in de muziekschool op een tapijt staan. Desondanks glijden de bassdrum en hi-hat controllers nog wel wat weg. Dit is op te lossen door een stukje klittenband te monteren.

Leuk om mee te beginnen, maar ook ervaren drummers hebben hier plezier van.
Ook de usb aansluiting is super fijn. Ik gebruik namelijk mijn eigen drumpresets via mijn DAW.
Deze drumset sluit daar feilloos op aan!

Ik had nog even zorgen of het lukte hem linkshandig in elkaar te zetten, maar dat is gelukt. Alleen de kabelboom is meer georienteerd op rechtshandig monteren, dus tenminste 1 verlengsnoer met maat 6.3 zou handig zijn.

voor geïnteresseerden, de linkshandige montage instructie voor dit elektrisch drumstel aan de hand van de meegeleverde montage plaatjes:
- poten hetzelfde
- beide armen spiegelen, en daarmee bij stap 7 de arm joint (links in 1e plaatje) ondersteboven zetten
- hierdoor wordt stap10 iets lastiger met vastmaken, omdat de wingbolt onderaan komt
- in de spiegeling kun je tom3 en snare van de arm af halen en omdraaien, dat staat mooier
- stap 6, stang met tom1 en tom2 NIET spiegelen, die tom's sluit je gewoon gespiegeld aan.
- stap 16, plaatje spiegelen, op aansluiten op computer na (waardoor je dus tekort komt in bekabeling).

Met veel opties in geluiden.
Maar ook ingebouwde nummers oefeningen etc.
voor rechtshandige drummers >> zo inelkaar gezet!
voor linkshandige drummers >> is het even zelf puzzelen, want er staat niks in de manual.
Ook was het misschien handig geweest van Yamaha om een boekje mee te leveren
waarin staat want je allemaal met de module kan doen.
Zoals je ook bij de demo modellen ziet in de winkel.
Verders speelt het fantastisch, en een kwalitatief drumstel met veel mogelijkheden.
