At the forefront of the hybrid acoustic-and-digital game, the Roland VAD706 kit features full sized wooden shells and a shiny new TD-50X drum module. For future-thinking performing drummers, this is basically the ultimate kit and it comes with almost everything: all you need to add is your preferred drum throne, kick pedal, snare stand and hi-hat stand. Beyond that, you're getting a five-piece kit built out of three toms, a 22 inch kick drum, 14 inch snare, two crashes and a ride. And to polish off the configuration, there's a fully mechanical 14 inch VH-14D hi-hat. Each element is equipped with highly responsive triggers that are able to register the entire range of strikes, ticks and strokes to support seamless, lossless performance and ensure that no strike ever gets swallowed.
The TD-50X V-Drum Sound Module
The TD-50X sound module offers over 900 superb sounds and ready-made presets, each of which is directly based on both legendary and modern kits. To complete the acoustic feel, Prismatic Sound Modeling has been used alongside PureAcoustic Ambience technology, so the sound is as rich, natural and lifelike as it gets. Since this is the most professional hybrid kit at the time of writing, the connectivity is fully up-to-spec, from the stereo XLR master outputs and eight individual TRS jack direct outputs to support a balanced link to the PA, to the USB port that provides a direct link up to a computer to record to DAW software or to play with the 32 MIDI channels. And, if you work with samples, you can simply and easily import them directly into the module via the SD card slot.
