General

The Discrete 4 audio interface by Antelope Audio boasts the outstanding quality we can expect from this top-notch brand as well as microphone-modelling by Accusonics! The preamps have been completely rebuilt from the ground up and consist of six discrete transistor paths. Also, the high-acclaimed FPGA platform now features Accusonics modelling, which means you can choose from a number of legendary microphone models and a prestigious preamo collection that will take your audio to the next level. What's more, the Discrete 4 features excellent conversion, console-grade preamps, the renowned FPGA technology with real-time effects, guitar modelling and countless connection options. With the real-time hardware FPGA/AFX effects in the Discrete 4, Antelope Audio have clearly secured their position as market leader in high-end audio interfaces.

Accusonics microphone and preamp modelling

The most significant change in Antelope Audio's new Discrete series is the Accusonics modelling technology. Each mic is compatible with the Discrete series and you can choose to record audio with or without Accusonics modelling. If you do, Antelope offers the Verge or Egde modeller microphones to get the job done right. The entire routing matrix has also been given a facelift. The more expensive models work with a type of virtual patch bay, which has now been replaced by a more straightforward intuitive model. This makes it even easier for those who have never worked with an Antelope Audio interface before to take the plunge and invest in the Antelope Discrete 4!

Independent mixing and routing/effects storage

For some time now, it's been possible to store individual components (routing/effects for instance) in the Antelope software panel. This allows you to save your favourite effects combinations, combinations of specific guitar amps and microphones, or even entire sessions and share these presets with other Antelope users. When recording a band, you can connect up to four individual sets of headphones so each musician can hear their own personalised mix with no latency, not even if you're recording with effects in real-time! The interface also features AFX effects and allows access to renowned classic EQs and compressors. IN terms of processing, the Discrete 4 handles it all, lifting the burden on your computer processor significantly. Thanks to FPGA processing, these effects feel just like actual hardware!

Tips or comments about this product
  • Please note: the Discrete 4 does not allow you to load more than two AFX instances in your DAW at the same time. If you wish to be able to load more, there are two options available: an upgrade or a bundle that includes the Edge modeller microphone. This offers access to all 16 AFX effects instances.

Antelope Audio Discrete 4 Thunderbolt/USB audio interface
