Product information

General

Apogee introduces an interesting Thunderbolt audio interface with their Element series. These classy interfaces have a minimalistic design, though on the inside they're anything but minimal. They feature all of the best parts of the Symphony, Ensemble and Groove interfaces, which means that Apogee have used their own preamps with the famous Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture. These preamps offer up to 75 dB of gain, made possible by the optimally designed analogue circuit that was created to minimise distortion yet still produce a superior bandwidth.

8 inputs and 8 outputs

The Apogee Element 88 offers 8 analogue inputs and 8 analogue outputs with selectable 48V phantom power for microphones, instruments and line level devices. These consist of 4 combo XLR/jack inputs and 4 XLR outputs. For the outputs you get 2 balanced XLR outputs and 2 balanced jack outputs. there are also two stereo headphone jacks so you can listen t otwo separate mixes independently from one another. Furthermore, the Apogee Element 88 offers an optical input and output that you can use to expand the input/output options via ADAT, SMUX or S/PDIF.

Superior AD/DA conversion

Thanks to the built-in word clock, analogue-to-digital conversions and vice versa are smooth sailing. The clock synchronises digital signal paths and (external) devices with excellent precision, which in turn benefits the audio quality. Finally, you can control the Element 88 with great accuracy with the help of the included software and app. Everything can be tweaked to suit your needs. You can make 3 different monitor mixes, for instance, and you can monitor all of the signal flows visually. Latency will be a thing of the past with this Thunderbolt interface!
