IK Multimedia impresses yet again with the iRig Pro DUO. This attractive, comprehensive audio interface offers a healthy dose of practical functionality in a remarkably compact housing. Both Windows and Mac users, as well as iOS and Android fans will love working with this little black box. The iRig Pro DUO allows you to record microphones, keyboard or guitar, and it's also possible to plug in a MIDI device, a pair of headphones and a set of active speakers. If you're a mobile musician or a home producer, you'll need very little more than this multifunctional audio interface!
The iRig Pro DUO: getting down to business
Connecting the iRig Pro DUO external sound card is easy; just use the included USB cable if you're working with a computer, or the Lightning cable for your iPad, iPod touch or iPhone. For Android devices, you'll find a USB-OTG cable in the box. Now you're all set to start recording! Any type of multi-track software will capture the two incoming channels individually, which is great if you want to record a guitar and some vocals at the same time, for instance. Simply connect a dynamic or condenser microphone to one of the interface's inputs, and an electric of electro-acoustic guitar to the other.
Additional features
On top of the iRig Pro DUO, you'll find two gain controls that allow you to adjust the volume for each of the two inputs individually. If you're working with a condenser microphone, don't forget to hit the +48V phantom power switch on the side of the interface. Right next to it, you'll see two balanced jack outputs, suitable for a pair of active monitor speakers, for instance. Thanks to a low-latency headphone output, you can also monitor yourself and your backing track while you're recording vocals.

Enige waar ik tegenaan liep was dat de eerste keer dat ik hem ging gebruiken op mijn PC voor Skype en een webinar ik als een chipmunk klonk. Dat komt omdat Skype en mijn webinar software (Google hangouts) alleen overweg kan met 44.1 kHz. Standaard staat de iRig Duo ingesteld op 48 kHz. Gelukkig had ik het getest en omdat alles automatisch gaat op de PC was het flink zoeken waar ik dit kon veranderen. Als ik gewoon opnames maakte (Audicity) was dit namelijk geen probleem.
Klein dingetje, maar vond ik wel vervelend en gelukkig kwam ik er op tijd achter maar had handig geweest als dit in de handleiding zou staan.
Verder heel tevreden met de interface, wel jammer dat ik er geen goede klem voor kan vinden. Ik had de iKlip mini ervoor aangeschaft, maar daar valt 'ie steeds uit. Terwijl op de films duidelijk te zien is dat de Duo daar wel op een klip zit. Beetje ducktape doet wonderen, maar is niet echt een handige oplossing.
Dus op deze kleine dingen na een heel divers apparaat met heel veel mogelijkheden.

-Plastic, oogt breekbaar.
-Onduidelijk wanneer de batterijen bijna op zijn.
-Externe voeding moet je er los bij kopen.
-Ik vind het volume van de opnames aan de zachte kant.

-Clean geluid, geen verlies of ruis.

Supermakkelijk in het gebruik, superlicht, fijn compact en overzichtelijk.
Geluidskwaliteit zeer goed.
Vrijwel geen latency met gebruik via de iPhone 6S! (ik gebruik live percussie met mics via effect-apps: heel fijn; je hoeft niks aan je instellingen te veranderen, bijna plug and play(alleen je input kiezen in de app).
Zeer aan te bevelen voor de prijs, en multi inzetbaar: vooral on stage, op reis en voor spontane jams/opnames!

Minpuntjes:
- de behuizing is van plastic en lijkt een beetje zwak, daarnaast wordt er geen etui of iets dergelijks bijgeleverd, maar dat wil niet zeggen dat het apparaat niet stevig is.
- Bij stand-by van de iPad lijkt de iRig ook op stand-by te gaan of iets dergelijks, daarbij hoor je een best harde tik op je uitvoer, dit gebeurt ook bij het aanzetten van de iPad.
- Invoer volume is net zoals bij de iRig HD nogsteeds lastig in te stellen, balans tussen voldoende volume en niet laten clippen is lastig te vinden, clipt erg snel bij akoustische gitaar.
- iPad/iPhone kan niet gevoed worden tijdens gebruik
- Op plaatjes / in video's van IK Multimedia is de iRig ge-mount te zien aan microfoon standaarden, maar er zit geen mount bij, geen idee hoe dit ook wel mogelijk is, licht misleidend. Kabeltjes is namelijk erg kort en als je je iPad hoog op je standaard ge-mount hebt kan je de iRig niet kwijt.
