General

IK Multimedia is already well known for producing top-quality software and hardware that includes a number of compact devices with recording capabilities. This time however, they've delivered a comprehensive, pocket-sized mobile studio that's a bit special. The iRig Pro I/O not only has a Hi-Z Neutrik XLR/jack combo input but a MIDI input and output as well. Just as impressive is its multi-platform support; the iRig Pro I/O works with Mac, PC, iOS and Android devices that support USB OTG (On The Go), and is also compatible with Samsung Professional Audio.

Studio-quality anywhere

The iRig Pro I/O allows you to record in 24-bit / 96 kHz quality. If you want to use your favourite condenser mic, that's no problem either as there's switchable 48V phantom power on board. LED lights will keep you informed about everything that is going on with regards to gain, MIDI and phantom power. The device itself can be powered by USB, an optional 5.4V DC adapter or 2x AA batteries. When you're using the adapter, you can even charge your iOS device at the same time. Lightning and USB cables are included.

Software bundle

As if all that weren't enough, IK Mulitmedia has even added an impressive software bundle that includes AmpliTube for iOS, Amplitude 4 for Mac and PC, SampleTank 3 SE, T-RackS Deluxe and Room Mic. In short, you'll have more than enough to start making top-quality recordings right away.

De reden waarom ik de iRig Pro I/O heb aangeschaft is om mijn muziekapps (met novation launchkey mini) en basgitaar (en andere instrumenten) via midi te kunnen synchen met andere mensen. De iRig Pro I/O maakt dit mogelijk. Wat wel jammer is dat het niet mogelijk lijkt te zijn om hem tegelijk met mijn novation audiohub 2x4 te gebruiken maar misschien heb ik gewoon nog niet de juiste manier van aansluiten gevonden. Al bij al een goede oplossing waar ik al heel lang naar op zoek was.

De irig i/o gebruik ik voor een mobiele toepassing, om een mono line level op te kunnen nemen, danwel live door te kunnen streamen. Dit gaat goed. De gain moet wel op de i/o worden teruggedraaid naar 0, anders overstuurd hij te snel. Het geluid is prima! Bij 2 oplaadbare AA batterijen kan ik 3 uur vooruit. Dat is soms te kort. Daarvoor heb ik de adapter er later bij gekocht. Hiermee wordt de iPhone ook meteen bij opgeladen

Ik gebruik de IRigPro om mijn IPad te verbinden met mijn Roland keyboard. Dit werkt perfect met de muziek apps zoals SimplyPiano..

Tevens werkt de IRigPro prima om de diverse synthesizer apps met mijn keyboard aan te sturen.

Mijn koptelefoon sluit ik aan op de IPad, en oefenen maar :-)
