General

The 8D AES3 SPDIF USB audio interface by Motu is a versatile device with lots of connection options. It functions as a router, splitter and converter and boasts DSP processing. Use it to send audio channels to a computer or within the same network via AVB-TSN functionality. This interface supports sending various audio formats over AES3, S/PDIF, AVB-TSN and USB. There are also optimised drivers especially developed for the 8D that work efficiently on both Mac and Windows platforms, which means you have a smooth, fast system with virtually no latency!

Audio processes by the 8D

One of the reasons audio editing and mixing can sometimes be taxing for your computer is because the plugins require a lot of processing power. This is not an issue with the Motu 8D, as the internal effects are driven via the hardware by the DSP. This interface features a legendary modelled LA-2A so recording and mixing feels just like working on an analogue mixing console!

Full control and standalone mode

Using a special web app that's driven by the 8D itself, you can operate the interface from any computer, smartphone or tablet within the same network. You can also use the 8D in standalone mode and access the 48-channel mixer and DSP effects without having to connect it directly to your computer. Connect it via Apple Airport or another type of router with a standard UTP cable and enjoy complete wireless control. You'll also receive a software bundle that includes the web app and Discovery App that ensures all available Motu interfaces in the network are easily located.

With the launch of the M64, 8D and LP32 USB audio interfaces, they've really pulled out all the stops. They all come with a plethora of connection options that enable them to function as routers. Each interface has DSP as well, which will relieve your computer's processor significantly.
