General
The rack-mountable UR816C USB 3 audio interface serves up eight analogue inputs and outputs that live alongside ADAT i/o and MIDI i/o! Since this is a Steinberg conception, it's also capable of 32-bit/192 kHz audio resolution for unbelievable definition and dynamics. If the eight ins and outs don't quite do it for you, the UR816C can be expanded by a further 16 channels via the ADAT inputs and outputs. Effects are fully processed by the built-in DSP chip, leaving your computer plenty of breathing room for other operations, while the Work Clock input and output offer reliable connection to other outboard units. With a housing worthy of a tank, the UR816C is robust enough for tours and sessions on location.

Qua klank en mogelijkheden een dikke voldoende. Verwacht geen wonderen, maar de prijs / kwaliteit is okee. Ook de effecten zijn heel bruikbaar. Maar........
Hij past niet ondermeer in een 19" rack. Je zou zeggen dit is een standaard maat, maar de UR-816C is vrij breed en door de (te dikke) rackoortjes blijft hij op de rails hangen. Zonder kunst en vliegwerk en een slijpschijf krijg 'm niet in mijn 19" rack gemonteerd (van een StudioDesk meubel). Alle apparatuur past normaal gesproken perfect alleen zijn de Rack-oortjes van de UR-816C te dik.
Deze interface wordt gemaakt bij Yamaha.
Shame on you Yamaha........ Ik neem aan dat ze daar meer 19" apparatuur bouwen....????

Na een week van problemen met 3 leveringspogingen toch eindelijk gekregen, dus zeker niet "dag erna in huis".
Enfin, de interface op Windows 10 funktioneert goed verder, installeren ging makkelijk, echter de handleiding is erg vaag op diverse gebieden. Support kun je wel vergeten van Steinberg, je moet op forumhulp hopen.
Ik heb er meteen een extra ADAT extension bijgekocht maar om die outputs toe te kunnen wijzen aan kanalen in je DAW was niet echt duidelijk.
Ook de USB kabel bijgeleverd is wel erg kort en helaas geen USB C naar USB C. Die moet je zelf nog aanschaffen.
Het geluid voldoet prima, de connectors voelen helaas niet zo heel degelijk, met name de hoofdtelefoonjacks zijn héél gammel.
Benieuwd hoe lang dit goed gaat.
