A first glance will immediately reveal that the Tascam US-20x20 USB 3.0 interface means business! Its look exudes professionalism and durability, so it deserves a spot at the top of your list if you're looking for a great interface! No fewer than 20 inputs and outputs are at your disposal, at a sample rate of 44.1 or 48 kHz. If you reduce the number of I/O channels to 12 x 12, you can even expect 176.4 or 192 kHz. As such, the US-20x20 comes highly recommended as an accessory for everyone who works in-the-box, and is looking for high-quality inputs and outputs.

Of course, it's not all about audio I/O, the US-20x20 also has classic MIDI connectors (in, out). Look at this product as having everything a producer needs that a PC doesn't offer. Besides the MIDI connectors, on the back you'll find various other inputs and outputs, such as line, coaxial, optical and word. On the front, there are 8 combined XLR/jack inputs, with phantom power that can be switched on or off in two groups. The interface uses USB 3.0 performance, so it's nice and fast!
Other Features
With its raised sides, you can use this interface as a tabletop model, and with the included rack ears, you can turn it into a 19" rack module as well. Of course, the US-20x20's insides are also well equipped. Take the excellent Ultra-HDDA microphone preamps, for instance, or 20dB headroom on the inputs, so that even the occasional volume spikes are taken care of. Finally, there's the excellent DSP that gives you an equalizer, compressor and gain for each individual channel.

Ik was in het begin een beetje huiverig omdat ik verder geen ervaring met het merk heb en er op internet ook relatief weinig over te vinden is.
De weinig reviews die er zijn ook op Bax shop prijzen het product werkelijk de hemel in. Dit wordt normaal erg opgeblazen maar Tascam doet toch wat ze beloven.
Het is werkelijk en beest van een interface. Het geluid is daadwerkelijk subliem en alles voelt zeer solide aan. Je merkt dat er niet bezuinigt is op kwaliteit of dat er ergens concessies zijn gedaan.
Er zit verder geen software bij en dat hoeft ook niet uiteindelijk betaal je daar ook voor al zeggen ze dat het gratis is en dan moet er vaak bezuinigt worden op de kwaliteit. Tascam doet dat gelukkig niet.
De handleiding is wel vrij summier en heb je verder weinig aan. Maar dat mag de pret niet drukken alles valt vrij eenvoudig zelf uit te zoeken.
Om een lang verhaal kort te maken deze interface verdient de volle 5 sterren.
Uiteraard was de service van Bax ook weer zoals het hoorde. Ook 5 sterren voor Bax.

De unit heeft voor live en studio gebruik meer dan genoeg in- en uitgangen. Dat is mooi maar hoe is de kwaliteit. Nou in een woord TOP. Stille pre-amps, crisp volkomen vlak geluid en wat van ook van belang is een geweldige headroom. Kwaliteit die ik nog niet gevonden heb bij apparaten onder 500 euro.
Van 44.1k tot 192 kHz bepaal zelf. Te gebruiken als interface maar ook als live-mixer (software dsp mixer) met compressor, e.q. en reverb. Ik gebruik in de studio vaak een externe reverb unit ook dit kan via b.v. een coaxiale aansluiting. Werkt samen met deze unit out of the box. Digitaal RCA in/out.
Uitbreiden naar 20 sporen kan makkelijk via een toslink met bijvoorbeeld de Behringer ADA8200 of andere. Ook dit werkt direct.
Kortom een eerste interface met USB3 die werkt met een vertraging van bijna zero. Ook mijn DAW Reaper werkt zeer goed met de laagste latency. Fijn, fijn!
De samenvatting is makkelijk: super veel in- en outputs. Topklasse stille pre-amps, veel headroom, van 44.1 tot 192 kHz, live en interface voor je studio, live (software dsp-mixer). Puike externe aansluitingsmogelijkheden, usb 3.0 voor verliesloze 18 sporen naar je DAW een lage latency en nog veel meer. Ook 2.0 compatible voor oudere pc's en software.
Met deze interface kun je dus live en in de studio op een hoog level de komende jaren vooruit.
