General
The design of this second-generation Apollo Twin by Universal Audio has been completely overhauled. The MKII is the result of over 60 years of experience and is equipped with two excellent preamps that are based on the highly-acclaimed Unison technology to include the warm, analogue characteristics of brands like Neve, API and Manley. What's more, you can record in near-zero latency as if you were plugged directly into a hardware unit, as you can record and monitor directly with UAD, Universal Audio's patented DSP processor.
UAD-driven plugins
The big advantage of the UAD DUO processor is that you can apply high-quality, vintage effects in real-time without sacrificing any of your computer's processing power. The effects are dealt with by a digital signal processor (DSP), which relieves your system considerably. This in turn makes the latency almost completely obsolete. You can choose from a range of vintage effects that are accurate reproductions of the very best ever made. There are EQs, reverbs, compressors and tape machines by the likes of Neve, Studer, Manley, API, Ampex, Lexicon, to name but a few. Best of all, they're compatible with your DAW!
Next generation AD/DA converters
As well as the above-mentioned features, the Apollo Twin MKII also has new-and-improved AD/DA converters that form the heart of any professional interface. These converters increase the dynamic range while decreasing the harmonic distortion, allowing your recordings and mix to sound clear and spacious, with room to breathe so to speak. Some additional functions include a fully-fledged Talkback and even better monitoring functions compared to the original Twin. It also offers Mute, Dim, Mono, ALT speaker switching and remote control.
