DBX AFS2 feedback suppressor

General

The AFS2 by DBX is a clever feedback destroyer that can be fine-tuned to perfection. It's based on the AFS224, which is a top-of-the-line feedback suppressor, but it's actually received a few improvements. It monitors feedback on 24 different frequency bands, and intervenes - when necessary - using a very narrow filter. Furthermore, there's a practical Wizard function to help you get the AFS2 set up. It's also fitted with balanced inputs and outputs, giving you the choice between jack or XLR connectors.

DBX AFS2: no more ringing

Nothing is more annoying than a sound system that produces a piercing ringing sound at the drop of a hat. This sound is caused by the sound from the system being picked up by a microphone, creating a loop. Luckily, the DBX AFS2 prevents this problem from occurring. When there is feedback on a certain frequency, the AFS2 detects this and counteracts it using a very narrow filter (Q=1/80!). What's more, where most feedback eliminators operate on just 10 or 12 frequency bands, the AFS2 operates on 24! This allows it to work its magic even in complex venues.

Applications

The number of applications is virtually endless. The DBX AFS2 is particularly well suited to fixed installations in conference rooms or theatres. As these systems are often operated by various different technicians and performers - each with their own opinions on how things should sound - a feedback suppressor can be a great tool!
