Zoom H2n Handheld Audio Recorder
Yes, there are better condenser mics out there with larger capsules and lower noise pre-amps etc. Yes, you would want to up your game for professional grade gear. But hey, WAV+RAW+MP3 high data rate, good bandwidth recording with this device, at this price, is great value.
Another good feature is the ability to plug it in via USB to your PC and it's an instant USB blogging/vlogging mic. Versatile as you like. For us it's the 'do everything' field recorder.
Find a deal that includes the accessories kit if you can - essential really - a bit mean I think that Zoom don't include more extras with the mic itself, but there you are.
If you're planning on outdoor use - you MUST by a 'dead cat' wind 'spoffle' - the sponge/foam baffle is ok but won't properly kill wind noise. Hence furry dead cat a must. Also important to double check you buy the correct SD card for this (& remember, 32GB is your max). Highly recommended - bang for buck - decent sound quality - ultra versatile. Big thumbs up. But you should also start saving up for your AKG C414 at the same time.
