Wrote the following about Zoom H1 XLR Handy Recorder

Mijn Zoom H5 was defekt gegaan en we moesten dus op zoek naar een vervanger. We maken vaak video opnames in het theater en sluiten dan ook een recorder aan op de mengtafel. Met de H5 was het volume altijd lastig in te stellen omdat de geluidstechnicus in de finale altijd wat enthousiaster was dan we verwacht hadden. Op de Zoom H1 zit eigenlijk geen volume knop dus we waren heel nieuwsgierig naar de eerste opname. Ik had de geluidstechnicus gevraagd om het volume voor ons wat te verlagen maar dat was niet nodig geweest. De Zoom H1 XLR heeft een super dynamisch bereik. Het is dus een kwestie van aansluiten en op record drukken. We zijn er heel tevreden mee.

Wrote the following about Zoom H1 XLR Handy Recorder

Samen met twee vrienden -- noem ze voor het gemak Geoffrey en Hank -- maak ik opnames op locatie. Daarvoor bestelden we deze H1 XLR. Op advies van Hank bestelde ik een dagje eerder, zodat de jongens van Bax met de gebruikelijke extra dag verzendtijd precies op tijd leverden. Gelukkig maar, want de rest van de week waren mijn dagen tot de rand gevuld. Het pakektje kwam dus precies op het goede moment en bleek na het uitpakken exact de inhoud te bevatten die we hadden besteld. Dat vind ik altijd een pluspunt. Geoffrey merkte wel op dat de verzenddoos onnodig veel groter was dan de inhoud. We speculeren dat de dozen-op-maat machine even niet beschikbaar was. Hoe dan ook... Toen het weekend aanbrak hebben we de recorder natuurlijk grondig uitgeprobeerd. Eigenlijk werkte alles goed: van de stereo mic/line input met een setje Roland in-ear binaural microfoons tot de twee XLR/TRS ingangen met een condensatormicrofoon. Zelfs de SM7B van Geoffrey klonk goed. Wel heel zacht, maar de hoeveelheid ruis viel alles mee. Tot slot heeft Hank zijn hoofdtelefoon nog aangesloten op het apparaat. Hij heeft genoten van het geluid, gegeven de bescheiden prijs.
