Are you looking for something similar to the renowned Rat-like distortion from the 1970s, but even bigger? If so, check out this Flatiron Fuzz effects pedal from Electro Harmonix. It's an op-amp fuzz/distortion pedal that gives you that popular, massive, symmetrical hard clipping sound, but is even more versatile than its predecessors. As soon as you turn it on, you can already enjoy the immaculate cleanliness of the true bypass signal. Incidentally, the Flatiron Fuzz is named after the historic Flatiron building in Manhattan which is why there's a '70s-style graphic of it printed on the face of the pedal.
As you'd expect, the Flatiron Fuzz has volume and drive controls, but instead of a tone control, there's one called filter. This sets the tipping point of the low pass filter and makes your guitar or bass guitar sound as sharp or dark as you like. That makes the EHX Flatiron Fuzz suitable for genres including arena rock and brutal metal, but also for more experimental music as well as alternative and even fusion-based styles. In any event, you're sure to have a lot of fun with this effects pedal.
