A fully analogue silicon fuzz in vintage FuzzFace style, the Strymon Canoga is part of Strymon's Series A: pedals without MIDI, USB, firmware or digital processing. With just two knobs - Drive for the amount of distortion and Level for the output volume - it's wonderfully direct to use, but don't underestimate it: the gain range runs from raw fuzz to a solid, almost distortion-like drive.

It is precisely its interaction with your guitar that makes Canoga so versatile.

As with many unbuffered fuzz pedals, it works best when you place it directly after your guitar, so that the circuit "sees" your pickups and volume potentiometer. Turn Drive and Level fully open, and you get the full fuzz experience; turn down the volume of your guitar, and a palette of semi-clean tones opens up for blues, rock, Americana and pop. In the process, the highs stay clear and don't get muddy easily, especially in combination with an amp that already has a small edge of overdrive.
