DiMarzio DP193FBK Air Norton guitar pickup

General

Originally, the DP193FBK Air Norton was conceived as the 'Airbucker' from DiMarzio's Norton series. The idea was that it would be a unique sounding bridge element, especially in combination with a high-gain amp. Alongside this, it was soon discovered that the DP193CR is also a very good-sounding neck element. The tone is deep and warm, but does not get fuzzy and remains well defined. Although the output is quite high, you will not get distortion with this pickup in the neck position. The patented magnet structure of the Air Norton pickups means that there is less 'string-pull' and you therefore have more sustain. The element sounds very dynamic and you can change the sound considerably by hitting harder or softer.

Neck position

With the DiMarzio DP193FBK Air Norton in the neck position, you are guaranteed a warm, open sound that produces enough power and volume to combine well with all kinds of bridge elements. Combining the pickup with 500k potentiometers will result in a sound with maximum sound reproduction with lots of highs and a clear presence. If you mount it in the bridge position, the pickup will have a medium output with tight lows and biting overtones. If you use the DP193FBK Air Norton in the bridge position, it is recommended to use it in combination with 250k potentiometers, so the highs will sound a bit thicker.
