General

If this noise occurs while adjusting the tone or volume of your electric guitar or bass, the potentiometer may have had its day. This Alpha ALP250-B42 metric potentiometer offers a simple and inexpensive option. Thanks to its linear resistance gradient of 250K, this model is best suited as a tone control for guitars with low output, such as single coil elements. The split shaft makes it easy to push on most knobs that don't use a screw.

Tips or comments about this product

Please note that this potentiometer has a metric (coarse) shaft with 18 teeth (knurling) and is only suitable for metric knobs. You will find these knobs on guitars from Japan, China, Korea and Indonesia, among others. For American knobs, it is best to use potentiometers from Fender and CTS, for example.
