The 14-inch Sabian HHX Complex medium hihat is a treacherous cymbal. Its raw bell makes you suspect a dark, warm sound, and you get it. What you don't immediately expect, however, is that this hihat has considerable cutting power. The combination of power and dark complexity is not very often successfully implemented in a cymbal, but the Canadian cymbal maker proves once again that anything is possible. They achieve this by combining B20 cymbal bronze with a special hammer pattern characteristic of cymbals from the HHX series. Of course, the raw finished bell adds some extra grit and complexity.
