Not every musician, producer, composer, or DJ can afford to buy an entire stack of vintage analogue synthesizers. Fortunately, Arturia's V-Collection 4.0 provides you with a remarkably accurate emulation of all the sounds and options of such a valuable hardware collection, for a very reasonable price. The bundle contains no fewer than twelve titles, from the Prophet V to the Wurlitzer V. New since version 3 of the V-Collection are the Matrix 12 V, Solina V, Vox Continental V and Spark 2.0, a unique program with 170 drum machines and 5,500 drum rhythms. You can install the package by simply activating the installer on the included USB stick.
V-Collection 4.0: control
Connect a MIDI keyboard to your PC or Mac, and the V-Collection 4.0 will make you feel like you have a set of hardware analogue synthesizers at your fingertips. Each of the synths of the lauded V-Collection can be used as a plug-in for any DAW (such as Cubase), but can also serve as a stand-alone in Windows or Mac OS X. Use the included Analog Lab software for easy access to thousands of sounds. It's possible to choose from numerous presets and you can tweak sounds in minute detail. All the functions of the original instruments have been recreated and there are additional bonus features, too. You can even combine several synthesizers!

Geluid is erg realistisch te noemen.
Op Analog Lab staan ook vrijwel alle geluiden al (ik meen 6000 ofzo). Gaat het je alleen hierom, en heb je niet de behoefte om zelf aan de knoppen van de synthesizers te gaan draaien, dan is het slim om een arturia hardware product te kopen, hier zit dit vaak ook bijgeleverd.
In de andere review staat dat je de handleidingen op papier krijgt, dit was misschien voorheen zo maar nu moet je het doen met een usb stick.

Maar zoals de synths in deze collectie Old School zijn, zo ook de inhoud. Er zitten namelijk drie dikke pillen met handleidingen bij. En dat is eigenlijk wel een stuk handiger dan heen en weer switchen naar een Adobe reader op dezelfde computer.
De handleidingen zijn zeker in het begin best onmisbaar om aan de gang te kunnen met de synthesizers in deze bundel. Want die roepen erom om met de knopjes en kabels bewerkt te worden. Dit is veel meer dan een verzameling presets. Daarnaast begint ieder hoofdstuk met een korte historie van het besproken apparaat en hoe het destijds werd ontvangen.
Eindeloos prutsen met een zeer uitgebreide Modulaire Moog komt, hoewel virtueel, volgens mij erg in de buurt van sounddesign op een echte. Alleen dan voor een fractie van de prijs.
Hetzelfde geld voor de Jupiter 8. Destijds een onbetaalbaar droomapparaat en nu weer.
Aan alles is te zien dat Arturia deze collectie met liefde in elkaar heeft gezet. Tot nu toe, ruim twee weken in bezit, niets dan lof.
