General
Rob Papen's Predator II is essentially a sound-designer's virtual playground. At the core, you'll find a set of three formidable oscillators based on user-selected waveforms that can be morphed, FM'd, and ringed between. The filter is just as versatile and comes with its own dedicated envelope and an extra high-pass filter - an unsung hero when it comes to introducing some much needed rest when the lower frequencies get over-energetic. On top of that, this soft-synth has an LFO module, an amplifier module, a play-mode module (including functions like unison), and an effects section.
The Predator II in Action
It may go without saying that, due to the oscillator and filter combo, the Predator II is likely to find a solid place in EDM and synthpop production. In fact, woven through the entire sonic palette on offer, you can clearly discern the roots of the artist, Rob Papen himself. This synth is capable of shaping abrupt, to-the-point sounds - the kind that often serve up the meat and potatoes of music production. And, at the same time, this synth welcomes a deeply expressive production approach, and fully accommodates the exploration of the bizarre. All of this potency and potential is backed up by the grooves and beats that can be spat using the extensive arpeggiator.
