Soniccouture Ondes v2.0

With Soniccouture Ondes v2.0, a true classic has become virtual. 'Classic' you may take quite literally, it is about the 1928 Ondes Martenot. In version 2, the interface has been improved with new graphics. The main improvement, however, is that the waveforms are now phase-locked. Because although the lack of this made the sound even a bit nicer/warmer, this is obviously not the authentic sound of the Ondes. Switching back is fortunately possible, so you get the best of both worlds.

Features of the Soniccouture Ondes v2.0

It is a typical sound; retro squared. The sound is still found in films, some well-known titles are Lawrence of Arabia, Ghostbusters and Amélie. A big feature of the Ondes Martenot was the metal ring, this gave the effect of a ribbon controller. Players of it could thus control the pitch by 'pointing' the keyboard keys, sort of like an easy(er) Theremin. It is this haunting sound that you hear in Ghostbusters.
