The Multibender bridge on the Duesenberg Fairytale Splitking Lapsteel offers something extra: up to five separate levers, each individually adjustable, allowing you to bend individual strings by a semitone or a whole tone. The rest of the chord remains unchanged; only the specifically adjusted bend levers affect up to five strings! This lets you bend a minor chord into a major one in an instant, or play a line with a bend you’d normally only expect on a standard guitar. The whole instrument is stylishly finished in black and ivory, making this lap steel an absolute eye-catcher!

Pickups: one type, two pickups, four sounds

What sets the Splitking apart is its pickup configuration: instead of two separate pickups for two distinct tones, Duesenberg has built two identical pickups here that can function as either. Hidden within this Splitking Humbucker is a full-fledged single-coil element, which has been expanded with a finely tuned second coil to form a complete humbucker. Using the mode switches, you can select which version is active for each pickup – single-coil or dual-coil. And, of course, the 3-way switch lets you choose which combination of the two pickups you hear. In practice, this amounts to four different tones from just two pickups. On top of that, the speed pot allows you to fade in and out smoothly whilst playing to create perfect swells. The Easy-Shift capo is also included: a capo mounted on a fixed rail beneath the fretboard ensures that it can’t slip out of place whilst you’re playing or get lost.
