A lap steel is played whilst lying down, using a slide on the strings, and it is precisely for this reason that the focus is on two things: tone and ease of play. The Duesenberg Kalico combines a Korina body with a flamed maple top to produce a warm, rounded tone with enough clarity to remain audible. The stylish body design is finished in a subtle Tobacco Burst colour with black back and sides, giving the instrument a very premium look. The shorter scale length of 610 mm (24 inches) makes the Kalico Lapsteel considerably more compact and easier to transport than a standard lap steel, without compromising on quality or playing feel!

Multibender and capo for extra expression

The Duesenberg Multibender is where this lap steel really stands out. Using the heel of your hand, you can operate up to five (individually adjustable) levers that bend specific strings by a half or whole tone. This allows you to easily add unique interval shifts to your lines or chords. The built-in Easy-Shift capo slides along an internal rail across the fretboard and always stays exactly in place – you can’t lose it, which is extra handy! Duesenberg has opted for a single Split/King pickup, but don’t think that imposes any limitations! The Splitking design offers a full-fledged single-coil with an additional second coil that you can easily switch on and off via the 3-way switch. This means the Kalico Lapsteel offers both a bright single-coil sound and a thicker, hum-free humbucker tone. Or as they call it: 2-in-1! Along with the instrument, you’ll receive a sturdy Custom Line hard case, as well as a certificate of authenticity and the necessary Allen keys.
