The Audio Technica AT5045 is a condenser microphone with a cardioid pickup pattern and an incredibly wide dynamic range that has been developed specifically for acoustic instruments. Thanks to the large, rectangular diaphragm, this microphone delivers the same high performance and response of a large-diaphragm studio microphone. The AT5045 reproduces the natural sound of acoustic instruments with faithful realism and depth. Its slim construction aids positioning and it can handle a high sound pressure level of up to 149 dB.

Applications of the AT5045

Thanks to the specs, this is an ideal overhead microphone for percussion instruments or direct mic-ing of acoustic guitars and string instruments. Since the diaphragm has been artificially aged, this microphone will retain consistent sound properties for year. The cardioid pickup pattern is front sensitive while any sound coming from the sides and back is attenuated, so that your target source is perfectly isolated. A built-in shockmount and accessory microphone clip also contribute to the great sound isolation, as they prevent handling and mechanical noise.
