MXL describes its Revelation as a microphone that delivers the warm sound of a tube mic, combined with the clear punch necessary for a balanced recording. The presence of a double EF86 tube is responsible for that warm, rich sound.

The Revelation's various pickup patterns

You determine how the microphone does its job. Do you want to capture sound from the front alone, omnidirectionally, or in a figure 8? The variable switch allows you to simply choose between a number of options. Experiment, record, play back, and find out which option you like best.

Construction and applications of the studio mic
