General

The GoldMike MK2 is the result of years and years of experience by SPL. This tube-and-transistor preamp is used to amplify instruments and microphones.

The instrument input on the GoldMike is based on the Class A impedance converter found the SPL Gain Station. The combination of transistors and tubes gives this preamp a unique sound and character.

The GoldMike MK2 is equipped with Lundahl input and output transformers, which grant it enhanced dynamics, an improved frequency response and a higher input signal. The dual-wound transformers are both isolated, magnetically separated, and enclosed inside a metal housing.

Since it's a two-channel preamp, you can use the dual channels in stereo or mono. This essentially sets you up with two preamps, which is ideal for stereo recordings with matched pair microphones.
