Avalon AD2022 mono Class A microphone preamplifier

Avalon's AD2022 is the fourth generation of this popular double mono microphone preamplifier; it has the transparency of the M2, M22 and the M5 but with a bunch of extra features. For starters, it's equipped with an improved Class A power supply, two Hi-Z instrument inputs, and a variable high-pass filter.

About the Avalon AD2022 preamp

This preamp offers two discrete, high-voltage, symmetrical Class A signal amps per channel. The first is in a cascade FET configuration and the second is fully bipolar. Together, they

share the available gain, which ensures even higher headroom, excellent transient response, and double the signal bandwidth.

Microphone inputs, outputs and metering

Avalon's AD2022 features two instrument inputs on the front and mic inputs with 48-volt phantom power on the rear. It's equipped with a -20dB mute and a passive high-pass filter for eliminating unwanted noise from wind, static and vibrations at sub sonic frequencies.

All the outputs on the AD2022 are balanced. Two large analogue VU meters give you an accurate overview of the incoming signal, and two LED indicators warn you when you surpass the 0dB or +20dB mark.
