General

USB/MIDI keyboards keep on getting more attractive and comprehensive. Remember those boring old MIDI keyboards that used to be the only thing around? Compare them to the Akai Advance 25 USB/MIDI keyboard, and you'll be blown away by the stunning visuals and options of the latter. One of the main merits of the Advance 25 is its beautiful 4.3-inch colour display, which gives you a clear overview of available plug-in parameters. Are you under the impression that this is just another gadget to control your DAW? We dare you to keep on reading!

Characteristics of the Akai Advance 25 USB/MIDI keyboard

The Akai Advance comes with VIP (Virtual Instrument Player), a VST host for Windows and Mac that guarantees seamless integration with the USB/MIDI keyboard. VIP enables you to host nearly any VST, both as a stand-alone or in your DAW. Each VIP is able to layer/split up to eight instruments and you can import as many VIPs into your DAW as your system is capable of supporting. The functionality of the Advance is so comprehensive that you can perform live using its display, while your laptop (with VIP) is left in a dark corner of the stage. With your laptop out of sight, your performance will look much more convincing to your audience! With the Advance, Akai has attained the perfect balance between software and hardware.

Additional possibilities

The more traditional characteristics of the Advance are up to the same high-end standard. The 25 keys of the USB/MIDI keyboard are semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive and offer aftertouch. Eight velocity and pressure-sensitive, backlit pads and traditional transport buttons are at your disposal, as are eight rotary encoders with LEDs, which always indicate the right parameter settings. Not only does the Akai Advance prove its merits on stage, it's also a great asset in the studio. This impressive piece of technology comes with no less than 16 GB of VSTs by AIR, SONiVOX and Toolroom Records. With more than 10,000 high-quality sounds - divided over nine plug-ins - at your disposal, you're able to start making music right out of the box. Are you looking for a great USB/MIDI keyboard with seamless DAW integration? The Akai Advance 25 is ready to get cracking!

AKAI Advance 25 USB/MIDI keyboard

Wrote the following about AKAI Advance 25 USB/MIDI keyboard
