General
After the introduction of the Renaissance, Akai had some more tricks up its sleeve. Various others products were released, one of which was this MPC Studio. Although Akai compares it to the Renaissance, the MPC Studio has been designed for easy transport and mobile use. This slim-line edition is suited for mobile music production and live setups, and neatly fits into your laptop bag.
The ultra-slim design of the MPC studio
Less than one inch thick (2.54 cm), the ultra-slim design of the MPC Studio enables you to easily take it with you on the road in a laptop bag. As opposed to previous MPC models, this MPC uses the sound and sample power of your computer. As such, the MPC Studio is not so much a Music Production Center anymore, but functions as a MIDI controller, optimised for live performances and offering the functionality, layout, drum pads, workflow and quality of a regular MPC controller. Thanks to the absence of powerful internal processors, large connector panels and storage capacity, the design of the MPC Studio is remarkably compact, providing you with a music production studio that easily fits into a decent laptop bag. A new MPC era has begun!

While everyone was focussing on the Akai MPC Touch during NAMM 2016, a Music Production Controller was also quietly released in the background. Known in some circles as the Black MK2, this MIDI controller features a few nice points of improvement on the MPC Studio. A 2.0 version of the MPC software was also released at the same time and comes included with the controller.
