General

Pearl's EM1 malletSTATION is an electronic mallet MIDI controller that can be connected to a PC, a Mac or an Android or iOS device. Like all MIDI controllers, the malletSTATION doesn't have speakers or create sounds by itself, but is used to control software on external devices. The EM1 has 43 soft silicone keys giving you 3 octaves and the key of the instrument is adjustable. You can do this using the adjustable low note range function which lets you set the fundamental diatonic note with all the other notes being adjusted automatically. Gap Cap covers are included to help you easily avoid hitting any wrong notes. Changing octaves can also be done easily using the dedicated buttons. The EM1 is powered by USB upon being connected to a PC, Mac, Android or iOS device using the included 1.8 metre-long USB cable.

Pearl designed the EM1 in collaboration with Keith McMillen Instruments as features like the Smart Fabric Sensor technology that gives the keys their high level of sensitivity, the mallet dampening and the aftertouch control show. The EM1 has a robust housing made of aluminium and steel which is relatively lightweight and because it's weatherproof too, you can play this instrument almost anywhere. The master control section on the right of the controller consists of 3 assignable faders and 4 assignable buttons. On the rear, there are 3 assignable pedal inputs. The range of instruments and sounds available are determined by the software you use.
