Developed to fully streamline the production process, the SSL UF8 DAW controller can be custom configured to meet every one of your wishes, so ditch your mouse and gear up with this slick 8-channel interface. While set up to serve in-the-box producers, this controller features a bank of motorised faders, rotary encoders per channel and a wealth of function buttons to offer the expansive feel of a full-sized console.

The SSL UF8: In-Depth

What the UF8 has over other DAW controllers is the depth of control that it affords. Download the SSL 360 app and gain access to all layers and user banks. The UF8 is also compatible with any DAW that supports HUI and MCU - so pretty much all of them, and thanks to the three-layer map, you can steer up to three different DAWs and say, record in Protools, mix in Studio One and master in Wavelab. It can do it all.

Wrote the following about Solid State Logic UF8 DAW Controller

Product is fantastic, but everything i've ever ordered from Bax Music is packed terribly - always in a massive box where the item can roll around freely. This happened with a preamp i ordered, and i had to send it back as it had knocked one of the connections out. Please learn how to properly package fragile and expensive items! Should be basic for an instrument shop.

Waanzinnig product. Ik kocht het compleet in een set samen met de UF1 en de UC1. Zo kan ik nu mijn hele mix bedienen met de knoppen en staat mijn scherm regelmatig op screensaver standje. Switchen tussen bediening van de SSL 360 plugin omgeving of je eigen DAW gaat met de druk op 1 knop. Zo kan ik bij de opname bv sporen record-armen en met de faders snel misinstellingen maken voor die opname. Maar zodra ik ga mixen set ik m over naar '360', de DAW binnen een DAW omgeving van SSL. Dat werkt fenomenaal. Aanrader, lees de manuaal. Want dan ontdek je pas, hoe geavanceerd en intuïtief bedienbaar deze apparaten zijn. De plugins van SSL die ik meegeleverd kreeg, zijn geweldig qua sound. Alles wat je doet en draait klinkt mooi, dus nu is het bepalen wat er eigenlijk goed in de mix past. Mixen met de oren en niet met de ogen, blijkt nu veel belangrijker dan ik ooit had gedacht.

Zeer stevig gebouwd en oogt heel sexy in de studio, zeker in combinatie met de UF1 en UC1. In combinatie met Cubase werkt het prima, daarbij komt dat SSL heel actief is in het constant verbeteren van hun software. De 360 software is te gek omdat je hiermee een echte SSL mixer in de box krijgt. Helaas is het mackie protocol dat gebruikt wordt voor de combinatie met je DAW wat beperkt en verouderd. SSL doet er van alles aan om de beperkingen op te vangen met slimme omwegen.

Deze hardware controller is een must have voor kleine studio's en/of mobiele studio's. Aansluiting en connectie met je DAW gaat zonder problemen. Als je gewend bent om alles via muis te doen is het even wennen, maar van zodra je wat dieper graaft in alle mogelijkheden die deze controller te bieden heeft kan je niet meer zonder en krijg je meer snelheid bij het creëren, editen en afwerken van je muziek. Een aanrader dus.
