General
After the success of the iRig and other IK Multimedia products, there was a demand for more innovations. IK Multimedia jumped at the chance to develop and launch more products. Earlier we were introduced to the iRig Mix. Now there is the iRig Mic Cast, a special plug-in microphone compatible with your iOS or Android device. It can be used with iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch.
The iRig Mic Cast has two different sensitivity settings that are adjustable to your needs. Is the sound near and soft, or loud and far away? The iRig Mic Cast is supplied with a special desktop stand for optimal positioning. Also included are two apps for recording purposes, namely iRig Recorder (for iOS and Android) and Vocalive. The former is mostly used to ensure optimal intelligibility, the latter includes a multi-effect generator and is therefore highly suited for vocalists (singers).

Heel aardige mic die tegen behoorlijk hoge volumes kan.
In de "low" stand kan het geluid zacht worden en afhangende van de opname app vreemd gaan klinken.
Gewoon op "High" laten staan dus.
Sommige telefoons moeten in vliegtuigstand om storen te voorkomen (Samsung S5 mini in mijn geval)
Deze mic heeft net een tikkeltje meer laag dan de Rode VideoMicMe, klinkt iets minder scherp (harsh) en kan net iets meer volume hebben.

De iRig Mic Cast heeft op zich weinig ruis, maar verlaagt ook de rest van het volume. Als je dit in je editingsoftware weer omhoog brengt, is de ruis nog steeds minder dan bij mijn iPhone 5 microfoon. Het werk dus wel.
Probeer NIET in de wind te filmen hiermee, want het is een ramp.
30 is niet heel veel, je kan dus niet heel veel verwachten, maar het verschil tussen ingebouwde iPhone microfoon en deze iRig Mic Cast is voor mij eigenlijk te klein.
Hij werkt wel, maar ik had hem beter verwacht, ook al weet je dat je voor 30 niet heel veel zal krijgen.

Service en levering van de bax-shop was uitstekend - 5 sterren! Maar mijn ervaring met dit microfoontje was helaas teleurstellend. Ik wilde het gebruiken voor video opnames, maar het volume is veel lager dan de ingbouwde microfoon die de Galaxy S6 Edge+ zelf heeft (zie test video hieronder). Als je opnames daarna met een (video)bewerkingsprogramma wil corrigeren prima, maar zo niet is het dus wel een probleem. Als je de iRig Mic Cast wil gebruiken voor opnames buiten, zal je bijna zeker een windscherm nodig hebben - dit bestaat niet en zal je zelf moeten maken. Dit heb ik gedaan en het helpt zeker voor de omstandigheden als het waait. Als je zéér dichtbij het microfoontje inspreekt, is het goed te gebruiken in zo een situatie, dan is je stem goed te horen.

Goede opnamekwaliteit voor deze prijs, zelfs solo akoestische muziekopnamens zoals vb. klassieke gitaar. IRig apps zijn minder, blokkeren steeds op mijn Android maar het kan evengoed met de spraakrecorder van je smartphone.
