General

Mooer's Mod Factory MKII is a modulation effects pedal that has 11 effects taken from the award-winning Mod Factory Pro. As you'd expect, effects like chorus, flanger, tremolo, phaser and wah are among the range of possibilities as well as a low-bit effect and a ring modulator. Tap tempo and acceleration functions have also been added to the 2nd version of this versatile pedal. Effects are selected using the large control knob in the middle, while other knobs include ones called speed, depth and ctrl.

Mod Factory MKII: series, parallel and acceleration

The ctrl knob influences different effects in different ways, but mostly it functions as a tone control. For the flanger, it determines the feedback level and for the low-bit effect the bit rate. This pedal also has a series/ parallel switch that affects the internal signal chain routing giving you completely different sounds from each type of modulation. The acceleration option allows you to use the footswitch as a momentary switch to boost the speed of effects.

Erg tevreden. Er zijn een paar effecten die ik wat minder zal gebruiken (trem, ring en bit crusher), maar dit pedaal biedt heel veel mogelijkheden in een klein formaat. Ook het tijdelijk verdubbelen van de snelheid biedt extra opties. Alleen jammer dat de tekst op het pedaal absurd moeilijk te lezen is, je moet er eigenlijk met je neus op gaan zitten.

Ik moet bekennen dat ik niet heb gekeken naar de specificaties van de maten van dit pedaal. Mijn eerste verrassing was du dat het pedaal erg klein is.

Maar dit bleek geenszins de prestaties te drukken: dit kleine monster doet bij de meeste effecten wat het moet doen.

Na enige speelbeurten kwamen bij mij de flanger, de phaser, de rotary en de stutterals favorieten uit de bus,
Erg prettig vind ik ook de instelbaarheid van diepte en herhaling van het gekozen signaal. Wat mij betreft is het pedaal voor zowel amateurs als professionals aan te bevelen.

Enige minpuntjes, en dat hoeft m.i. niet van aanschaf af te houden:
-het choruseffect doet bij mij weinig, maar dit kan ook eraan liggen dat ik misschien nog wat meer thuis moet raken in de bediening.
-de letters van effectkeuzes en instellingen zijn klein en in lichtgroen op de frontplaat gedrukt. Het zou namens fabrikant Mooer aanbeveling verdienen om deze letters in zwart af te drukken bij volgende edities, zodat alles door een beter contrast ten opzichte van de groene frontplaat beter leesbaar wordt,

Klein formaat maar grootse geluiden! Normaal gesproken ben ik meer van de losse pedalen voor elk gewenst effect maar de Mod Factory MKII heeft echt hele goeie sounds in huis. Ik kan zelf niet zo heel veel met ring en low bit maar de chorus, phaser, flanger, etc. worden veelvuldig gebruikt. Tap tempo is ook handig en met de voetschakelaar (ingedrukt houden) kun je het effect versnellen, grappig voor het einde van een nummer bijvoorbeeld. Schakelbaar tussen series en parallel dus heb je van elk effect twee varianten. Deze gaat niet meer van mijn pedalboard! :)
