Zoom's engineers are musicians too, which definitely benefited development of the new R4 MultiTrak. This handheld recorder has a 32-bit floating point, meaning you'll never have to worry about clipping again. This floating-point format basically leaves ample headroom for excessively loud input levels that would normally cause clipping, but also works the other way around and makes sure that there's no noise when the input level is too low.

Record. Bounce. Mix.

The Zoom R4 MultiTrak allows you to record up to four tracks at the same time, which can then be mixed using built-in tools and bounced to a dedicated bounce track - just like mixing engineers did back in the day to free up tracks for additional recordings. There's even a space-saving Quick-Bounce feature that can be engaged at will and, if you're not happy with the results, simple hit 'Undo' and your bounce track is deleted again.

Built-In Drum Patterns and the Option to Add Effects Per Track

In addition to two XLR/jack combo inputs loaded with Zoom's own renowned preamps, the R4 comes with a selection of pro-grade track effects, including 3-band EQ controls, a panning tool , an echo effect and reverb. On top of that, you're set up input effects, which enable you to do things like adding an amplifier simulation to the DI signal of the guitar you're recording, or adding a delay directly to the instrument input. This compact yet brilliantly versatile multi-track recorder naturally features a built-in microphone, plus a range of drum patterns to help you write songs.
