Fender Adds New Classic Design Series Guitars

Friday 2 June 2017 by Richard | Bax Music

Fender's Classic Design Series has offered great value guitars for years and now they're adding fourteen new models to the range to ensure there is something for everyone.

Optimal playing comfort

In February, Fender announced the first upgrade to the Classic Design Series, and the introduction of these fourteen new models now means a further expansion. Playing comfort is one of the biggest selling points here with the new models featuring rounded fretboard edges and a comfortable easy-to-play neck profile. Another important detail is the solid top that offers improved resonance and sound. No matter whether you're a beginner or a more advanced player, everyone will surely find something to love about these new models.

New body styles

The dreadnought is probably the best known acoustic guitar design but, as Fender shows here, there are other options too. The CT-60S and CT-140SCE for instance are smaller travel-size guitars that have a shorter scale length and a smaller body, making them easier to take with you. Then, there are the CP-60S and CP-140SCE models, which are parlour guitars. In terms of size, these fall between the travel-size models and the Dreadnought and offer a distinct and intimate sound. If you play bass, you might be interested in the electro-acoustic CB-60SCE that has a Fishman preamp.

Steel or nylon?

In addition to the new steel-string acoustics, Fender is also introducing two new nylon-string models. The CN-60S and the CN-140SCE both have a narrow string nut that measures 43 mm and makes them easier to play than a traditional classical guitar. Both models also feature a solid top for a rich and full sound. The CN-140SCE is equipped with a Fishman preamp that has a built-in tuner so that you can easily amplify your sound once you're in tune.
