Nowadays, we're mostly reading off of digital pages instead of paper ones and you might genuinely wonder why we're still manually turning over the pages. Now, the digital solution is here. The PageFlip Butterfly is an affordable, wireless foot switch that can turn the pages for you within various software and applications on your PC, Mac, Linux system or Android/iOS tablet, allowing musicians to stay fully focussed on their instrument.
Butterfly: Connect and Turn
The Butterfly can be connected to devices that support Bluetooth 3.0 and lets you turn over pages or scroll through files, webpages and documents using the two pedals. These are also used to select the desired operating mode. Scroll as if you would with the pageUp/pageDown buttons or decide to emulate the arrow keys, mouse buttons or space bar/enter. (See the Tips below for an overview of all compatible Android/iOS applications.)
Tips or comments about this product- Please: The PageFlip Butterfly can only be used wirelessly. The PageFlip Firefly, however, does work via cable.

I’m very pleased so far. The product arrived quickly and was easily set up with my iPad and Forscore. After a little experimentation with positioning I got the hang of using it while playing my oboe. The pedals have a satisfying action and the device doesn’t slip. Very good!

Transferring sheet music to tablet was a revelation. Adding a page turner is a small incremantal improvement. I wasn't after the portability offerd by some devices and I noted comments by others about the device that they had chosen sliding or being kicked across the floor.
The Butterfly is substantial, it does not slide, on carpet anyway, and is easy to operate. It seems to have a hibernation mode so once is was paired (easy) and switched on, I haven't had to switch off or switch back on since. Touching it with my foot wakes it up. Needs to be re-paired with a second tablet.
Trial and error showed that the best position for me is by my left foot (slightly counterintuitive) to the left of the soft pedal. Positioning it by my right foot didn't work. I had got very used to touching the screen to change pages so remembering to tap my foot didn't come naturally but that improves with practise. It is one more thing to think about.
Overall, very pleased with the device and using it all the time.

Een lichte druk met de voet op het pedaal en het volgende bladzijde staat klaar om door te spelen .

Hele fijne pageturner.
Mijn andere ging kapot. Gelukkig, want deze is veel beter. Reageert snel, gevormd naar je voet, ook met hakken te doen. En voor een redelijke prijs! Meer features heb je niet nodig als violist, dit is perfect!

Bijzonder fijne pageturner, ik gebruik hem in het orkest waarin ik piano speel. Geen gedoe meer met bladzijden, steeds aantikken en dan toch een maar één hand”kwijt”, zo gedaan met iPad en deze pageturner. Hij is precies gevoelig genoeg. Het is in het begin even oefenen met mikken op de voor- of terug maar daarna wil je niet meer zonder. Je kunt met 2 handen gewoon doorspelen!
